                                                                                                                   CHRISTMAS ROSE
Refer to the Step-by-Step on page 61.
STEP 1: Dampen and wipe off excess DecoArt Extender & Blending Medium. While still damp apply Medium White. Starting at left side of the rose and as you come across the rose, add a little Pine Green to the dirty brush.
STEP 2: Dampen and wipe; apply shadow of Brown Madder.
STEP 3: Dampen and wipe; apply extra shadow of Brown Madder+Pine Green (1:tch).
STEP 4: Dampen and wipe; apply first highlight of Veil- ing. Let dry.
STEP 5: Dampen and wipe; apply final highlight of Medium White. Let dry.
STEP 6: The linework is done with liner and Medium White thinned with a little water. Stamen dots are Hansa Yellow with a few Medium White dots. Tiny snow dots are
Medium White on a stylus or tip of a brush.
The ribbon is done using a flattened round brush filled
with True Gold. The flattened brush should look like a filbert. Reach beyond the puddle of Medium White and lift a little white on one flat side of the brush. The brush should have True Gold on both sides of the brush and Me- dium White just on one side of the brush. Hold the brush vertical to the surface. Scribble the tip of the brush and then turn the True Gold side of the brush down. Come back to the tip and then turn the Medium White side of the brush down. Practice this ribbon on a worksheet with clear plastic over it. Repeat the ribbon a few times.
When all is dry remove any pattern lines remaining with the Magic Rub eraser. I used Medium White on the stamps for snowflakes around the edges.
Use 3⁄4" flat brush to apply DecoArt Varnish to finish your box.
