MEMORY AND TREASURE BOXES – VILLAGE PAINTERS OF LIVONIA, MICHIGAN
On March 24 we delivered 32 Treasure Boxes to Shriner’s. They were very happy to receive them and to know we are still painting for them.
On May 10 we delivered 21 boxes to Harper Hutzel Hospital. On May 7 we delivered 24 Memory Boxes to Providence-Southfield. Reilene met
us outside and was really happy we are delivering boxes
to them again. We still have to set dates to deliver to Children’s-Detroit and Beaumont-Botsford. Our calls to each hospital were met with great enthusiasm! It has
been a while, but the hospitals are ready and willing to accept our boxes again. Yay! The hospitals have
also requested that we not get too “cutesy” with the Memory Boxes. These families have suffered
a loss and are mourning. Please take that into consideration when you choose what to paint on
the Memory Boxes. Thank you.
Enjoy putting the cute, fun pictures on the Treasure Boxes!

BOOTS AND BRUSHES SERVICE PROJECT
Every year, a large portion of the funds that our chapter, Boots and Brushes
of San Antonio, raises are given to the Warrior and Family Support Center. We paint 60 boxes with patriotic themed designs on them and fill them full of every treat imaginable. These are given out to the soldiers at Thanksgiving to show our appreciation for the sacrifices they have made on behalf of our country. We also purchase gift cards that are given out on an as-needed basis for the times they run short of money before payday.
Soldier Boxes painted by members
The Warrior and Family Support Center offers a wide variety of services: educational services, counseling and emotional support, computer lab, business center, home- cooked meals, a food pantry, free long-distance calls, advice and help for the Warriors and their families. They have parties and holiday celebrations. They schedule activities and take them on free events in the city. They teach art classes and have activities for children and families. They have even hosted several weddings for soldiers.
Our chapter is proud to support the Warrior and Family Support Center. We ask that our members paint three soldier boxes to contribute to the total of 60
boxes we need.
