Pat Mitchell cda was born in the Ottawa Valley on the Mississippi River. The library in that little town was small. Her mother was an avid reader, and they visited it often. She was always impressed with several large and beautiful oil paintings on the walls above the books. Pat used to study them over and over, admiring them and wondering how someone could make them. It was there and then she decided she wanted to become an artist.
A few proud moments over Pat’s 84 years: Opening a little shop called “The Tole Cellar;” teaching from Priscilla Hauser mda’s first books; working at the Country Sampler Ceramic Shop; teaching and selling
art supplies; having an agent sell her watercolor florals to galleries around the Niagara region, including the Art Gallery of Hamilton rental section; receiving her CDA (1988) from the Society of Decorative Painters in the USA (she was a member of that group long before!); Artsy Shark asking her to write an article and be a featured artist; being accepted into Ann Kullberg’s color magazine “Hidden Treasures;” having a little studio and website; and specializing in animal portraiture.
