SUPPLIES
Basic painting supplies (page 96) 220- and 600-grit sandpaper Tack cloth
Wood sealer
Satin varnish
White graphite paper
PREPARATION
Use 220-grit sandpaper to sand the surface. Remove the sanding dust using a tack cloth. Apply wood sealer and allow todry.
Lightly sand with 600-grit sandpaper and clean with tack cloth again. Basecoat the surface with Burnt Umber.
Use the white graphite paper to trace the main design lines onto the surface.
COLOR MIXES
When mixing colors, a “tch” (short for “touch”) is a very small amount.
There is no “Medium Value” notation.
“Basecoat” is Medium Value.

Highlight Value: Golden Straw+Snow (Titanium) White
Light Value: Golden Straw
