INTRODUCTION
When painting on fabric, I use a wet-on-wet technique.
I use the Golden Acrylic Polymer Medium instead of water.
It allows the paint to thin out without running. I mix the medium with the acrylics for larger areas, but in smaller areas, I dip my brush into the medium and then the paint. The medium leaves an open time to basecoat, shade and highlight all at the same time. When putting color next to color, I leave a fine line of the jean fabric showing. This allows for no bleeding of color. I hand-draw my pattern with a white chalk pencil, but you can transfer the pattern any way that works for you.
LET’S PAINT
Step One: Nose is basecoated with Wild Orchid shaded with Dioxazine Purple and highlighted with Wild Orchid plus Snow (Titanium) White. Let dry. Dots on the nose are Soft Black outlined with Sakura Gelly Roll Pen Medium White.
Step Two: Sun on the face is basecoated with Primary Red center shaded with Black Plum and highlighted with Canyon Orange. Sun rays are basecoated with Cadmium Yellow highlighted with Snow (Titanium) White. Let dry.
Step Three: Swirl on the face is basecoated with Canyon Orange shaded with Burnt Umber and highlighted with Cadmium Yellow. Let dry.
Step Four: Lips are basecoated with Primary Red shaded with Black Plum and highlighted with Primary Red plus Snow (Titanium) White. Let dry.
