PREPARATION
Sand the dowel and dowel caps. Remove sanding dust with a soft cloth. Seal with De- coArt Multi Surface Sealer. Let dry. Lightly sand and remove the sanding dust. Use a foam brush to paint the dowel, dowel caps and snowflakes with Cool White. Let dry. Load a small filbert with Sapphire to add a band on each dowel cap.
Use a scissors to round the lower left and right banner corners. Apply a coat of Sap- phire paint to the ungessoed side of the can- vas using a chip brush. Push the paint into all the pores of the canvas. Canvas may curl or buckle slightly while drying. When dry, the canvas can be ironed to remove any excess curling. With an iron set to medium heat, use a pressing cloth to press the banner flat.

CHALKING TIPS
n Use a freshly sharpened chalk pencil.
n Sharpen pencils with a battery operated sharpener for finer tips.
n Place a folded, clean paper towel under your hand to prevent smearing your work.
n Outline letters with the pencil, then fill in using a scumbling mo- tion (tiny, continuous circles made by holding the pencil more straight and done without lifting the pencil from the surface).
n Remove any tracing lines with a small point pencil-style eraser.
n Soften wider chalk letters and areas using the Small Detailer Foam brush. Shape edges of letters using a clean water-moist- ened point blend brush.
n Waft spray approximately 8" above the surface to permanently adhere the chalk and to keep it from smudging. After spraying, add additional coats of chalk pencil to brighten chalking details. Spraying with Krylon Workable Fixatif Spray allows areas to be reworked multiple times.
n For extremely bright dots and details, touch the tip of the pencil to a water dampened paper towel. It is best to keep one pencil for dry chalk and another for wet chalk as wetting the chalk can weaken the pencil.
