PREPARATION
Using the 1" flat, seal the wooden shoes with Jo Sonja’s All Pur- pose Sealer. Sand smooth, wipe clean, and paint the inside with the Blue Mix. (See color mixes on next page.) Basecoat the outside of the shoes with Capitol Sienna. Let dry, and then apply a second coat to ensure everything is covered. Transfer the blue part on the top, or freehand with a chalk pencil, and basecoat with the Blue Mix.
Transfer the design to the wooden shoes using white transfer paper. As all wooden shoes may vary in shape, you might have to adjust the pattern a little.
LET’S PAINT
Refer to the Step-by-Step on page 77 as you work.
STARFLOWER
These steps are painted on the Blue Mix base.
STEP 1: Load the no. 3 round brush with Capitol Sienna and paint the petals of the starflower.
Paint the center of the flower with Raw Sienna.
STEP 2: Load the no. 5/0 liner with Burnt Umber, paint fine com- mas on the right-hand and underneath side of the petals. Paint fine C-strokes around the center.
STEP 3: Use the Cream Mix to paint the highlight commas. Tip the liner brush in the Cream Mix to add dots on the Raw Sienna center.
LEAVES
Using the round brush and Antique Green, paint commas around the flower. Use the liner and Cream Mix to paint highlights.
