BRUSH AND BRAG CHAPTER GIVES THEIR CREATIVE TIME AND TALENT TO THEIR LOCAL LIBRARY
Twenty-six members of the Brush and Brag chapter used their time and talents painting a life- size fiberglass sheep (a local icon decoration) for the Stephens Public Library in San Angelo, Texas.
This project took seven months of planning, designing, acquiring permission from City Council, and actually painting. Brush and Brag members painted in sessions days and evenings, starting in November of 2015. The design on the sheep included Hank, the Cowdog; Sherlock Holmes; Alice in Wonderland; The
Wizard of Oz; Winnie the Pooh; Moby Dick; Curious George; Heidi England’s Texas wildflowers patterns; many famous quotes and five literary award emblems.
The designs were painted so some would be seen and recognized from the street, whereas others would be revealed the closer you got. The final artistic touches were glasses, fancy eyelashes and pearl earrings.
The chapter completed the sheep project on January 15, 2016, and it was proudly placed on a limestone base on the corner of the street for all who drove past to see.
The Stephens Public Library held a dedication ceremony on February 1, 2016. After the dedication the library had a luncheon for the Brush and Brag chapter.
