METALLIC/POWDER
STIPPLED GROUND FOLIAGE AND GRASSES: Using a small deerfoot or stipple brush, lightly stipple at the base of the house and dock with No. 2 and No. 6. The grasses are fine lines of No. 1 and No. 6. The leaves in the grasses are No. 2. The flowers are dots of No. 6 with a center dot of No. 5. Additional dots are No. 5.
LADIES: The face, hands, and feet are No. 6. The neck opening of the jacket and pants are No. 1. The jacket is No. 2 with trim on the sleeves and waist of No. 5. The hat is No. 2 and shoes are No. 1. The basket is No. 3 with leaf strokes of No. 2 and blossom dots of No. 6 and No. 5. (Refer to Step-by-Step on page 42.)
LOWER DRAWER AND OF CABINET
RAISED GROUND: A solid coverage of a mix of No. 3+No. 4 (1:1).
TREE: The trunk and branches are No. 3. The leaves are a double-load of No. 2 and No. 1. The blossoms are small C-strokes of No. 6 with a center dot of No. 5. The additional dots are No. 5 and fine tendrils are No. 2. (Refer to Step-by-Step on page 42.)
BUTTERFLIES: The top and bottom wings are No. 1; the two middle wings are No. 2. The strokes on the wings are No. 5 and dots are No. 6. The body is No. 4 with section lines of No. 6. The antennae are No. 6. (Refer to Step-by-Step on page 42.)
SHADING AND DETAILS ON SCENES
The tree trunks, between the mountains, the ground under the ground foli- age, and the bottom of the raised ground are shaded with floats of Traditional Burnt Umber.
The house and dock poles and bottom of grass areas are shaded with Burnt Umber.
The roofs and ladies’ clothes are shaded with Burnt Sienna.
The boat hull and house are shaded with Burnt Umber and sails are shaded with Burnt Sienna.
The butterfly wings are shaded at their base and separated with Burnt Sienna.
All of the detail lines on the ladies, houses, tree on drawer, butterflies, and boat are fine lines of Lamp (Ebony) Black.
FLORAL DESIGN ON TOP
Refer to Step-by-Step on page 42.
LEAVES: Sideload the leaves with No. 3. Outline and center-stroke the leaves using No. 2.
POINTED FLOWER PETALS: With No. 6 paint the pointed flower petals and paint the center dots with No. 5.
HALF FLOWER: The half flower is a sheer wash of No. 1 outlined with strokes ofNo.2.ThecenterisdotsofNo.5andNo.6.
FOUR-PETAL FLOWER: Sideload the petals with No. 2 with a fine outline of No. 6. The center is dots of No. 5 and No. 6. The extra tendrils are No. 2 with dots of No. 6.
BORDER: The border outline at the top is 1⁄4" from the edge with a line of No. 2.
Shade the base of the leaves with a float of Burnt Umber. Shade the base of all flower petals with a float of Burnt Sienna.
