LET’S PAINT
The Kalasca-style flowers are bright colors. Painting with a dirty brush allows color to be mix-transferred and gives interest to the strokes.
RED FLOWER, LEFT OF CENTER
STEP 1: Using the filbert brush (or no. 4 round), side- loaded with Dark Red Mix and sketch in the center of the flower, then sideload again in Medium Red Mix and pull three C-strokes so that the red edge forms the three crown strokes. Let dry. Basecoat flower/petals using a brush mix of Medium Red Mix and Dark Red Mix.

Therefore, whether you are using a simi- lar board or a surface of your choice, decide in advance what (if any) of the surface will be stained and what will be painted. In staining the entire board, mix the Wood Stain colors and plenty of DecoArt Extender and Blending Medium to create a very thin stain. Apply the stain to an unsealed board using a large wash brush. Work fast and apply stain evenly as it will soak into the unsealed board. Let dry. If required, apply a second coat of stain. Other- wise, seal the board using DecoArt Multi-Surface Sealer. Dry. Lightly sand again and wipe clean. If required, apply a second coat of DecoArt Multi-Surface Sealer and lightly
