         SURFACE PREPARATION
Basecoat the lid of the box with Spa Blue. Basecoat the bottom of the box with Bright Orange. Basecoat the edge of the box lid when the painting is complete with Country Blue. Let dry com- pletely. Sand lightly. Using well-worn gray graphite paper, a traced pattern, and a light touch, transfer only the main pattern lines as lightly as possible onto the surface.
LET’S PAINT
FROG
Basecoat collar with Mustard Seed. Using a no. 8 shader side- loaded into a mix of Mustard Seed+Milk Chocolate (1:tch), shade under the chin of the frog. Highlight the tips of the collar with a sideload float of Cadmium Yellow. Detail the edge of the collar with an outline of Bright Orange, highlighted on the tips of the collar with a dash of Pineapple.
Basecoat the remaining frog sections with Lemonade. Using a no. 12 shader sideloaded into Avocado, shade to separate the frog sections. Highlight the outside curves of each section and the top curve of the head and eyes with a sideload float in a mix of Lemonade+Snow (Titanium) White (1:tch). Detail the frog sec- tions as follows. The lower body section is dotted with Bright Orange. The middle body section is striped with no. 4 shader sheer Baby Blue stripes, which are detailed with horizontal lines in Snow (Titanium) White. The top body section is plaided with linework in Bright Green. The arms are detailed with shading lines in Avocado, and then outlined with Pineapple. The mouth is painted as a line of Melon, shaded on the cheek and upper mouth line with top lines of Napa Red. The eyes are basecoated with Lamp (Ebony) Black, then detailed with dashes and a small stroke of Snow (Titanium) White.
Reinforce the shading on the Lemonade frog sections with a soft sideload float in a mix of Avocado+Lamp (Ebony) Black (1:tch). Repeat the highlight with a sideload float of Lemonade+ Snow (Titanium) White (1:1).
