  artist’s sketch
Lynne Deptula loved decorative painting the first time she took a class in 1981! She painted a strokework design from a Millie Smith book at her local craft store, and my, how the flow of a stroke enthralled her. Shortly thereafter she attended a West Michigan Decorative Artists’ Chapter meeting where she was introduced to the teacher, Judy Diephouse. Classes with Judy followed, which blossomed into a lifelong friendship and the business partnership, Distinctive Brushstrokes.
Many years have flown by, and more than 35 books have been published along with countless magazine and pattern packet projects. Lynne has been a member of West Michigan Decorative Artists and the Society of Decorative Painters since 1981.
Lynne lives in Grand Rapids, Mich. with her husband, Frank. They have one lovely daughter, Anne, and a great son-in-law, Matt.
