BACKGROUND TEXTURE AND STAMPS
STEP 1: Basecoat entire background with Light Buttermilk.
Using a dampened sea sponge, pounce Camel and Light Butter- milk randomly around the background. Soften with the clean end
of the sponge.
Load the Rollergraph with Antique Gold+Burnt Umber (4:1) and
roll it across the top of the board. Reload and repeat until the entire board is covered. Once it is completely dry, pounce over the three areas where the postcard will be stamped with Light Buttermilk, re- ferring to the photo.
STEP 2: Place the CARTE POSTALE stamp onto a large acrylic handle. Load the stamp with Burnt Umber and stamp impressions three times as indicated on the diagram. Reload the stamp in be- tween impressions. Stencil CARTE POSTALE very lightly with Bur- nt Umber using a sponge stylus. If the lettering gets too dark, sponge over it lightly with Camel.
STEP 3: Dry-brush the corners using a no. 8 Monza round with Antique Gold+Burnt Umber (1:1), then float the perimeter of the background.
STEP 4: Tint the embossing paste with the Media Burnt Umber, tape the stencil in the corner of the board, spread the paste over the stencil, then lift like opening a book to remove the stencil. Wipe clean with wet wipe and paper towel. Repeat to opposite corner.
When embossed area is dry, lay the stencil back over the raised area. Add the patina by dry-brushing Victorian Blue, then Salem Blue using a no. 6 Monza round.
