Float a second shade with Grey Storm. Glaze Carbon Black in darkest areas.
DARK GRAY AREAS: Float the handle grips and tire with Carbon Black. Dry-brush Slate Grey using a no. 0 Monza round. Add the final highlights very lightly with a White Polychromos colored pencil.
WHITE AREA OF THE TIRE: Float with Camel. Float a second shade with Antique Gold.
BLUE AREAS: Float to shade with Victorian Blue. Dry- brush to highlight with Salem Blue using a no. 0 Monza round. Add additional highlights with a back-to-back float of Snow (Titanium) White using a small flat brush. BRUSH HAIRS AND BASKET: Fill in the brush hairs with Camel using a no. 3 round. Float to shade with An- tique Gold using a 1⁄2" square wash on the basket and a no. 4 shader on the brush hairs. Float a second shade in the same manner with Antique Gold+Burnt Umber (4:1). Add a third shade with Burnt Umber. Add texture to the basket using a Brown Polychromos colored pencil.
CANVAS AND BOTTLE CAPS: Float to shade the canvas, ferrules, and bottle caps with Grey Storm. Very lightly glaze Salem Blue on the canvas.
Float to shade around the outer perimeter of the postage stamp with Desert Turquoise.
Transfer on the cancellation stamp circle. Line the in- ner icons with Desert Turquoise. Line the outer circle with Lamp (Ebony) Black. Transfer the wavy lines over the circle referring to the photo. Use the Black Polychromos colored pencil to colorize the lines.
SMALL POSTAGE STAMPS
CALIFORNIA POPPIES STAMP: Wash over the flow- ers and leaves with thinned Yellow Oxide using a no. 4 shader and no. 2 round. Mix Cobalt Teal Hue+Yellow Oxide (1:1) to create a warm green and apply to leaves using a no. 2 round. Float English Red Oxide to the petals. Tap Raw Umber to the centers of the flowers using a no. 0 liner brush.
LARGE BUTTERFLY STAMP: Using a no. 2 round, apply Yellow Oxide to the wings working outward. Float English Red Oxide working from the outside in. Add Raw Umber to the body.
ART BRUSHES STAMP: Apply Yellow Oxide to the pencil, brush hairs, and large brush handle. The remaining brush handles are Cobalt Teal Hue. Wash over the inside of the jar with Snow (Titanium) White. Allow to dry and then add more Snow (Titanium) White for glints.
DAISY STAMP: Wash in the center of daisies, stems, and leaves with Yellow Oxide. Brush-mix Cobalt Teal Hue+Yellow Oxide (1:1) to create a warm green then apply to the stem and leaves. Float Cobalt Teal Hue around the inside of the daisies.
PALETTE AND BRUSHES STAMP: Mix Yellow Oxide+ English Red Oxide (1:tch) to make a darker gold and wash over palette. The tips of the brushes are Yellow Oxide. The brushes and one paint drop are Carbon Black, then choose colors to add the remaining colors on the palette. PANSY STAMP: Wash all items with thinned Yellow Ox- ide. Float English Red Oxide to the pansy. Mix Cobalt Teal Hue+Yellow Oxide (1:1) to create a warm green then apply to the stem and leaves.
SMALL BUTTERFLY STAMP: Fill in the entire butterfly with Yellow Oxide. Float Cobalt Teal Hue from the outside in. Add dots of Snow (Titanium) White on the outer edge of the butterfly wings.
Decoupage the stamps onto the surface referring to the photo for placement. Use a C-Thru ruler to keep the stamps straight.
FINISHING
Allow the project to cure for 24 hours. Apply a varnish of choice to protect the project.
