Although I paint a number of different styles, my favor- ite is those that involve strokework. I am also drawn to designs where the leaves are stepped down by
adding another color to lighten them. In this design I have incorporated both techniques. The original was designed for a photo album cover that was black with maroon corners.
Husk was used as a toner on this piece. By adding a little “toner color” to most of the colors, the shades work together and no color looks out of place. Mixes were accomplished by brush-mixing as needed.
