She was a member of the Citrus Ridge Decorative Artists and Gulf to
Bay Decorative Painters Chapters in Florida.
Julie began teaching in 1970 when she opened her ceramic studio in California. Later she operated a tole
painting studio where she was the primary teacher.
In 1991, she moved to Ohio with her family and taught
classes in large chain stores, local chapters, and privately owned studios. After she relocated to Florida she began writing and published 19 articles in The Decorative Painter and other various painting magazines. She also designed and painted pieces for Artist’s Club and Hofcraft.
One of her students, Dianne Caldwell, wrote the following poem for Julie.
A POEM FOR JULIE
The last brush is cleaned,
and put back in its place. The last pattern is printed, no mistakes to erase.
The class has been called for her final good-bye. Her spirit is warming just an occasional sigh.
We love her; respect her; and will miss her so much. Our paintings and projects always needed her touch.
She now paints the sky with such talent and grace. She no longer limited and has found endless space.
