SOURCES
Sending traditional Christmas cards has quickly become archaic in our current lifestyles. Yet, I delight in using them in my Christmas décor. With this painted design, I can enjoy a beautiful card of pink poinsettias, trimmed with gold leafing, from year to year during the holiday season. So, this is my Christmas card to you. Merry Christmas!
PREPARATION
Spray the surface with Krylon Matte Finish 1377, following the directions on the can. The archival card stock is porous, so this may take three to four applications to seal the surface. Do not use a brush-on sealer.
• Carefully trace the design using tracing paper. Trace the outline of the design elements only.
• Measure up from the bottom of the surface 2 1⁄2" and draw a horizontal line across the surface using a pencil.
• Transfer the design onto the painting surface.
• Remove the tracing, carefully peeling off the drafting tape. Drafting tape will not leave an adhesive residue and is easier to peel off than masking tape.
PALETTE SETUP
Squeeze out about a nickel-sized amount of paint along the top edge of the palette approximately 2" from the top and spaced about 2" between each color.
• Lay the colors on the palette in the following order: Cadmium Lemon (CL), Radiant Red (RR), Quinacridone Magenta (QM), Bright Red (BR), Burnt Carmine (BC), Ivory Black (IB).
