Melissa Favor cda began painting in 1992 as she entered graduate school, thinking it would be a positive distraction from her studies. She painted at Which Craft, her local shop in Michigan, then on her own for years before discovering the Society of Decorative Painters and her local chapter, the Village Painters. Life quickly changed when her husband was transferred to England and her young family moved abroad. They spent eight years living in England, Spain and China, working and seeing as much of the world as possible. Life settled down after relocating to Pennsylvania with her husband, two children and two dogs. Melissa works as a hospital-based Speech-Language Pathologist specializing in neurologically involved speech and
swallowing disorders. Melissa teaches as much as she can at Steph’s Folk Art Studio and is active with her current chapter, Brandywine Decorative Painters. Melissa enjoys working in all painting mediums including mixed media and sculpting with Quik-wood. Melissa hopes to help guide SDP into the future.
