PREPARATION
Sand the barrel stave to a nice smooth finish. Wipe off excess dust. Use the #10 Bright to add a coat of Multi– Purpose Sealer over the entire surface. Let dry and lightly sand off any raised fibers. Wipe off any excess dust. Transfer the lines for the distant trees, the back hill and the grass area.
Tip: Carry the colors around the edges of the barrel stave as you go.
LET’S PAINT
SKY
Basecoat the sky area with Blue Haven using the #14 Shader. Dampen the sky with a touch of water using the #14 Shader. Mix together equal parts of Blue Haven + Deep Midnight Blue. Add a touch of water to this mixture. Use the #14 Shader to add a wash of color horizontally throughout the sky. This can be streaky. Mop the sky horizontally to soften any brush strokes. Dry. Sideload the #14 Shader with Snow White. Keeping the loaded side of the brush towards the top of the sky, stroke in the tops of the clouds throughout the sky. Softly mop as needed to blend.
