DISTANT TREES
Use the #14 Shader to basecoat the distant trees with Deep Midnight Blue. Make the top edge irregular to look like the treetops. Mix Black Green + Blue Haven (2:1). Use the Mezzaluna brush to tap in some treetops onto the distant hill. Keep the rounded edge of the brush toward the top to create the rounded curve of the trees.
DISTANT CORN FIELD
Basecoat the cornfield behind the house and barn
with Fawn using the #14 Shader. Add a touch of water to Mississippi Mud and use the 1/4" Rake brush to pull horizontal streaks of this color into the cornfield. This should look like rows of corn in the distance. Repeat this step with thinned Desert Sand. Dry. Add a touch of water to Mississippi Mud. Use the #14 Shader to add a very light wash of this color over the field to blend all the colors. This should be light enough to let the background colors show through.
GRASS (PART 1)
Basecoat the grass area with Black Green using the #14 Shader. Dry well and transfer the remaining design (except for the windows and doors). We will add more to the grass as we go.
HOUSE
Use the #4 Round for all the house basecoats. The left side of the house is basecoated with Grey Sky. Basecoat the stone areas of the house with Desert Sand. The roof of the house is Graphite and the front porch roof is basecoated with Rookwood Red.
The stones are added with the liner brush using Charcoal Grey and Mississippi Mud. Use both colors by switching back and forth with the dirty brush to make all the stones randomly on the house. The colors will mix a bit for variety.
Use the liner to add the chimneys with Rookwood Red. The windows and front door are Soft Black using the liner brush. Add a touch of water to Snow White and line the windows and the porch posts with the liner brush. Dry.
Add a touch of water to Charcoal Grey. Use the #8 Shader to wash this color over the shaded part of the stones on the house. This should be light enough to see through. Use the same brush to shade the left side of the house next to the stones with Soft Black. Shade the roof with Soft Black and highlight with Zinc using the #8 Shader. Add an extra highlight on the right side of the roof with Grey Sky. Shade the left side of the chimneys with Soft Black. Add a touch of Snow White to Rookwood Red, and highlight the right sides of the chimneys with a line of this color and highlight the top of the porch roof with this mixture using the #8 Shader. Use the liner brush to paint the front porch step with Zinc.
GARAGE
Use the #4 Round to basecoat the left side of the garage with a mixture of Rookwood Red + a touch of Soft Black. The small door is painted Grey Sky. The right side of the garage is Rookwood Red, and the garage door is painted with a mixture of equal parts Grey Sky + Snow White. Use the #8 Shader to shade the garage wall under the roof and along the corner with Soft Black. Use the liner brush to paint the windows on the doors with Soft Black.
The roof is basecoated with Graphite using the round brush. Highlight the roof with Zinc using the #8 Shader. Add an extra highlight on the right side with Grey Sky. Mix together Rookwood Red + a touch of Snow White. Use the #8 Shader to add a highlight of this mixture on the right side of the garage wall.
