  PREPARATION
Transfer the pattern to tracing paper, and then apply it to the surface using gray or black graphite paper. Place puddles of paint on the palette, and then use the palette knife to pull down lines of color (for loading).
BACKGROUND
Using the 1" Landscape brush, apply Bob Ross Oil Paint Medium to the entire background, in- cluding the leaves but excluding the flowers.
Using the 3⁄4" Floral Bright, use a crisscross motion to add Cadmium Yellow Light to the
right side of the background and around the iris (see the picture of the finished piece for place- ment). Above the left side of the top iris and down the left sides, apply Mauve+Ultramarine Blue. With the no. 1" Landscape brush, blend the background colors.
LET’S PAINT
It is very important to closely follow the Stroke Direction Diagram on page 113 as you work. Re- fer to it often, especially as the flower petals are being created.
