  BALL AND BERRIES
Add strong White glints in highlight areas. Shade the ball and berries with Crimson Lake and Black Cherry. Bur- nish with Carmine Red and Crimson Red.
HOLLY LEAVES
Strengthen highlights with White, and soften with Limepeel. Darken the leaves with Olive Green and a small amount of Dark Brown. Soften the areas between colors with Cool Grey 70%. Now add tints of Crimson Lake or True Blue.

BURLAP TABLE COVERING
Reapply all colors as you did for the first layer, this time using a heavier application. It is not necessary to fill in all pores on the table covering; leaving some unfilled will give the burlap a rough, textured look.
FINISHING
Finishing spray is not necessary for this piece. Simply mat and frame your piece under glass, however you see fit.

         Paula Leopold cda has taught painting classes for more than thirty-five years. She currently teaches five weekly classes in Denver, Colo. Paula also travel-teaches at conventions and seminars throughout the country. Her classes include a variety of mediums: oil, acrylic, watercolor, and colored pencil. Paula thoroughly enjoys painting and finds it truly rewarding to be even a small part of the process of art development in the lives of oth- ers.
