Icreated this fun and lighthearted piece for National Wear Red Day (February 6, 2015), to promote women’s heart health.
The current trend of pen and pencil shading with a splash of vibrant color is the perfect medium for this playful piece.
PREPARATION
The best method for transferring the de- sign to the card stock is the pencil-rub tech-
nique. Trace the design onto a piece of tracing paper, and then rub the back of the design with a 4H pencil. Place the traced design facedown, hold the 4H pencil horizontally on the tracing paper, and apply the graphite. Now place the design, graphite side down, on the card stock and retrace the lines with a stylus.
Trace the lines of the inner heart onto the small piece of gray card stock and cut it out. Notice that the outline is jagged.
