Chapter Happenings
CELEBRATING 40 YEARS
Southern California Decorative Painters - Whittier, California
In June, Southern California Decorative Painters (SCDP) celebrated its 40th year of painting, sharing, laughing, and making lifelong friendships. SCDP, the first SoCal Chapter to join SDP back in 1975, proudly boasts that Jo Sonja Jensen played an integral part in the forming of the chapter.
The chapter members celebrated their ruby-red anniversary by wearing red. Nancy Hornberger, a founding member of SCDP, handed out new name tags that she designed for this grand event. Anne Engle suggested a commemorative charm to hang from the tag and Irene Patrias and Roxanne Corey made it happen! Patty Newell, 1st vice program chairperson, organized a wonderful day of painting a Mystery Paint-In project, lead by Sandi Strecker, and a delightful luncheon.
SCDP members are very proud to belong in an organization of hard working contributing members, keeping decorative painting an important and wonderful part of their lives for many years.
“SAIL AWAY” PAINTING RETREAT WEEKEND
Chesapeake Bay Decorative Painters - Severna Park, Maryland
Chesapeake Bay Decorative Painters held its annual “Sail Away” painting retreat weekend in March at
the Clarion Hotel in Ocean City, MD. The retreat began with four make-
it-take-it projects followed by a fruit and cheese social. Over the next three days, 72 painters attended their choice of 22 different classes. Depending on the medium of preference, those who attended could choose from acrylics, mudding, watercolor, colored pencil,
dyes, inks and oil rouging.
The banquet and auction are always a hit.
Handmade items were donated by the chapter members and auctioned. Even the hotel staff got involved with the purchase of auction tickets. Everyone celebrated the winners.
