ACRYLIC
Along the creases and the bottom of the pumpkins, float a mixture of Pumpkin Patch+ Paprika with the 3⁄8" angular. Referring to the Step-by-Step on page 39, darken the floats with a brush mixture of Red Barn+Paprika then highlight with a brush mix of Vanilla Shake+Pumpkin Patch. Apply some floated green patches on the pumpkins with a mix- ture of Turf Green+Red Barn and use the mop brush to soften.
STEM
Apply a basecoat to the stem with Turf Green using a no. 1 liner. Float the bottom and top of the stem with a brush mix of Turf Green+ Coffee Bean, plus additional Va- nilla Shake highlights on the top and side.
WORDING
The letters get a basecoat of Paprika loaded on the no. 1 liner. Next, recoat them with Tiger Orange. To add some dimension to each letter, use the no. 10/0 script liner to outline the right side with Black Tie and the left side with Vanilla Shake. Let dry and apply a coat of Ice Crystal to the letters.
GREEN LEAF
Apply a basecoat to the leaf with a mixture of Green Beret+Vanilla Shake (2:1) and allow it to dry. Apply a light coat of Turf Green over the top of the basecoat; let dry, then dry brush the center of the leaf with a brush mix of Turf Green+Vanilla Shake. Allow this to dry completely.
First, float the top and center with a brush mix of Green Beret+Coffee Bean. Second, float a highlight on a few tips with Paprika and a few tips with Vanilla Shake. Create a brush mixture of Green Beret+Coffee Bean with the liner brush and outline the veins along a few sections outside the leaf ’s edge. Being sure to use a light touch; repeat the veins with Vanilla Shake.
ORANGE LEAF
Add a basecoat to this leaf using Pumpkin Patch and allow it to dry completely. Float the top and down the center with Paprika, plus along some of the tips with Green Beret, Red Barn and Vanilla Shake. The stem needs to be outlined with Paprika and tipped in Vanilla Shake; the vein is outlined with Red Barn and tipped with Vanilla Shake.
Use the no. 5/0 script liner to create the hay. First, load the liner with Coffee Brown to paint individual hay blades then add strokes of School Bus. Lastly, highlight in a few strokes of Vanilla Shake to give some depth. Use the tip of the liner bristles to dab on top of the hay a mixture of School Bus+Vanilla Shake being careful not to add too much.
GRASS
Refer to the Painting Tips on page 39 for use of the deerfoot brush. Start to stipple the grass with the Green Beret. Without cleaning your brush, pick up the Turf Green. Continue to stipple, but add some School Bus to add more value to the grass. Lastly, without cleaning your brush, add a few sections of Vanilla Shake highlights.
FINISHING
The 1⁄2" flat wash is used to apply a basecoat along the rim with Turf Green. Let it dry completely. When all the painted areas are completely dry, apply one or two coats of varnish.
