hy Welcome
JEAN ZAWICKI
Time to paint, my pretties!! Ee-He-He-He
Come in my pretties! I’ve been waiting to welcome you. It’s a witchy time to create this unique Halloween project. She
may look evil, but she’ll win over your heart when you are finished! You can’t help but adore her soft grey-green complexion and purple hair. I love my witch and hope you will welcome her in among your Halloween decorations too.
PREPARATION
For the bat on the plaque, cut out the pattern along the top edge so it will fit snugly against the raised bat. Use the Chacopaper to trace the designs.
This is a design where less is more. It is best to thin out your paint, allow it to dry, andthenapplyanotherlayer.Bypainting a blue-black background color, a hint of a ghosted color for the hat and shoulders appear when colors are floated on. Also, it leaves just enough value variation for a shadow on the background with Lamp (Ebony) Black to shade.
LET’S PAINT
STEP 1
WITCH HAT AND SHOULDERS
Start with the 1⁄2" angle to float in the hat and shoulders with a very sparing load of Dove Grey to give just a suggestion of color and keep a good bit of the origi- nal background color.
Dampen the sponge, wring out excess moisture and apply an even coverage of Midnite Green to the entire painting sur- face on both sides, including the raised surface of the bat at the bottom. Use a chalk pencil to separate the round bar of the hanger from what would be the tips of the bat’s wings, and apply Midnite Green to the bats at each end of the hanger. Evenly apply a single layer of Plantation Pine to the center hanging area of the bar.
Trace the design as accurately as pos- sible using the Chacopaper.
