 76 The Decorative Painter • ISSUE NO. 3, 2015
Iam always searching for the magic-brush-of-the-day in my collection of new and worn bristles. Can you re- late? I rarely throw away a brush, no matter how sprung or crusty it gets! I thought a new brush carrier might
help me sort my brushes more effectively. Consequently, I brought the Fairy Godmother (a.k.a. Tole Fairy) to life and wrote her this little verse on a repurposed cookie tin.
PREPARATION
Remove any stickers or residue on your canister or sur- face before spraying with primer. When dry, basecoat with Lamp (Ebony) Black. Photocopy the poem banner onto the scrapbook paper of your choice, preferably something with a subtle pattern that won’t fight with the text. Cut out paper banner.
Apply a basic outline of the pattern onto your surface, leaving off the details. Using DecoArt Multi-Purpose Sealer, generously coat the area where the banner goes. Adhere the banner to the wet area by carefully pressing from center to sides, smoothing out all bubbles and wrinkles. When dry, ap- ply another coat of sealer over the top of the banner, covering the edges of the paper. Allow the banner to dry completely.
