Mary Sue Baldwin, born September 15, 1946, passed away January 12, 2018. She was founder of Seaside Decorative Painters of Daytona Beach. After spending much time and work, Seaside Decorative Painters of Daytona Beach became Chapter 99165 of Society of Decorative Painters in 1987, a dream come true. She was always excited to
teach anyone to paint who showed a desire. She will be remembered fondly as a wonderful person, a mentor, but most of all for being our friend.

Penny Brooks of Plymouth, Mich., passed away in January 2018 after a short battle with cancer. Penny was a member of SDP since 1996 and of The Village Painters, her Michigan local chapter.
Penny’s passion was painting. If you have attended a painting conference in the past 20 years you would know her. She was my dearest friend and travel partner, handling my packing, class sales, and booth setup. Her love for shopping the convention exhibit halls is historical, her kindness and sweet demeanor never forgotten.
To honor Penny’s love for SDP, seminars and conferences, donations can be made to SDP’s Scholarship Fund in her name so that others have the opportunity to experience her joy of painting.

Betty Caithness, an SDP member since 1999, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2017. She was a member of the Shades of Blue Ridge Chapter in Lynchburg, Va. Betty will
be remembered for her Rufus Porter-inspired landscapes. Betty was a retired, self-employed artist and her work encompassed designing, publishing, and teaching. Betty inspired so
many of us over the years and was an icon in the decorative painting industry. She will be missed.
Gaynell Dickerson passed away March 21, 2018. She was a longtime member of Florida Suncoast Decorative Artists. She was a resident of Tampa, Fla.
Nancy Feifert of Warwick, R.I., passed away in January 2016. She was a member of the Little Rhody Rembrandts.
Ann Foster passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 10, 2017, in St. Augustine, Fla. She was born in New York, N.Y. She graduated from Warrensburg High School, Class of 1956, and Mary Hitchcock School of Nursing in 1958. As the wife of an Army officer, she traveled throughout the United States and many countries in Europe while raising her
family. She was actively involved in Girl Scouts while living in Germany and the United States. She was
an avid tole and decorative painter, and developed a talent and enthusiasm for teaching the art for more than 30 years. Her passion and accomplishments in decorative art included organizing and beginning Chapters in several states for the National Society for Tole and Decorative Painters. She was one of
five ladies who founded Nation’s Capital Chapter (NCC) in the Washington, DC area in 1976. She also attended the very first SDP convention in Olathe, Kan., as well as many other SDP conventions. She was a member of Decorative Artists of Jacksonville as well as the Society of Decorative Painters.
Linda Georgius, a longtime member of the Heart of Pinellas Decorative Artists and SDP member since 1993, passed away February 16, 2018. She was a resident of Tarpon Springs, Fla.
Barbara Stephenson Harding, of Wappinger’s Falls, N.Y., passed away February 19. Barbara was a long time member of the Hudson Valley Tole and Decorative Painters and a member of The Orange Blossom Decorative Artists.
Jeanette Johnson, SDP member since 1992,
passed away April 28, 2017. She was a resident of Benbrook, Texas, and a member of the Fort Worth Decorative Painters.
Bette Kenaston, charter member of the Fort Worth Decorative Painters, passed away in April 2017. She resided in Fort Worth, Texas, and had been a member of SDP since 1985.
Carol McCann, a 22-year member of SDP and the Raindrops chapter of Oregon, passed in March 2017. She resided in Vancouver, Wash.
Laura O’Dell of Meridian, Idaho, passed away January 10, 2018. She had been an SDP member since 1998 and belonged to the Idaho Chapter of Heritage Artists.
June Owens, a 16-year member of SDP and the Patchwork Painter chapter of Arkansas, passed away at her home in Little Rock, Ark, in February.
Dixie Thorne, of Ojai, Calif., passed away February 8, 2018. She was a member of the Poinsettia Painters Chapter and an SDP member since 1978.
Grace I. Walters, one of the founding members of Monterey Peninsula Decorative Artists and a resident of Carmel, Calif., passed on January 10, 2018.
Ruth “Ruthie” Westfall, a 20-year member of SDP and the Kansas Wheathearts, passed away in February 2018. She resided in Winfield, Kan.
Shirley Wiesman, a resident of Haltom City, Texas, and a member of the Fort Worth Decorative Painters, passed away January 1, 2018.
