LETTERING
Transfer the lettering. Use True Gold to basecoat with solid coverage. Highlight the left side of the letter- ing using Shimmering Silver. Shade the right side of the lettering Copper. Highlight the left side again using Aquamarine+Titanium White (1:tch). Using a liner brush, line the left side of the lettering with a thin line of Carbon Black. Float a shadow on the right and bottom sides of the lettering using an angular brush and Carbon Black.
TEXTURED SCROLLS
Using the line drawing for placement, tape down the Jardinière Scroll Stencil. Put approximately two table- spoons of the DecoArt Dimensional Effects Paintable Tex- ture Paste onto a waxed palette. Mix a small amount of Burnt Umber into the paste with a palette knife. You want to tint the paste and not dilute the thickness. Using a pal- ette knife smooth the texture paste over the stencil, like frosting a cake. Gently lift the stencil and clean under run- ning water. Allow the paste to totally dry.
Position the stencil again using part of the stencil. Tape off parts of the stencil that are not used and repeat as be- fore until you finish the textured scroll design. Clean stencil again and dry. (See Step 1 of the Step-by-Step on page 35.)
When the scrolls are completely dry, place the stencil back over the design to act as a mask. Using the no. 6 sten- cil brush pounce True Gold, Shimmering Silver and Copper onto the textured design. Clean the brush with DecoArt DecoMagic Brush Cleaner.
When dry, moisten the surface with DecoArt Extend- er & Blending Medium and highlight the left side of the scrolls with Aquamarine+Titanium White (1:tch). Shade the left and bottom of the scrolls onto the background using an angle brush and Carbon Black.
FINISHING
Varnish with three coats of DecoArt Traditions Satin Varnish.
