INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY
“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head.
If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart –Nelson Mandela.
International Mother Language/Tongue Day is a worldwide annual observance
held on 21 February to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity
and to promote multilingualism. Mother Language Day is part of a broader initiative
"to promote the preservation and protection of all languages used by people of the
world". “Using technology for multilingual learning: Challenges and
opportunities” is the theme for this year 2022. This year's theme focus is to advance
multilingual education based on the potential role of technology and support the
development of quality teaching and learning for all. On this occasion our
college Telugu Department conducted an essay writing competition on “The
Role of student in Preserving Mother Tongue”. All the students enthusiastically
participated in this essay writing competition.
Language is the key to our creative thinking and expression. We all have
the responsibility to preserve, promote and pass on our mother tongue to
future generations.
