The Watkinsville Christmas Parade is Sunday, Dec. 5 at 4:30 p.m. in downtown.

Parade, tree lighting are treasured traditions
Lineup for the parade begins at 3:30 p.m. on Barnett Shoals Road at the railroad tracks. There will be viewing areas in front of the Oconee County Courthouse, but there are also great vantage points all along the parade route.
Entries will be judged based on youth and adult Best Use of Theme, youth and adult Most Artistic Entry,
Best Tractor, Best Antique Vehicle and Best Overall “Maridee Williams” Award. Winners will be published in The Oconee Enterprise in our Dec. 9 issue and recognized at the Dec. 15 Watkinsville City Council meeting.
The emcee will be stationed in front of the Oconee County Courthouse. Parade organizers are also encouraging businesses to hold open houses that day.
The entry deadline for the parade is Nov. 26. There is no fee. Parade participants can fill out an application at cityofwatkinsville.com. Political messages are not allowed. Live

after the Watkinsville Christmas Parade beginning at 6 p.m. in front of the Oconee County Courthouse.
Families will enjoy carols and free hot chocolate from Oconee State Bank. Shortly before the lighting, there will be a downtown farmers market.
The Athens-Clarke County Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners will also hold its annual Cookie Crawl in Watkinsville whereby people visit businesses and receive cookies in exchange for a donation to the organization.
The Watkinsville Christmas tree is decorated with ornaments contributed by local citizens.
The fun evening has been described as a “Norman Rockwell Christmas” that is joyous and brings out the best in a community.
