Lyndsey’s mom, Tammy, had her back during her wedding planning and on her wedding day. Tammy was supported by wedding coordinator, Marvelyn Smith, former family and consumer science teacher at North Oconee High School who taught Lyndsey, Chase, and Lyndsey’s brother, Tyler.
Lyndsey surprised her father, Geof, with a special tie on her wedding day. She took a baby photo and had it made into a patch with a special message.
“Tyler and I have always had a very close relationship “ says Lyndsey. “His decision to join the Navy just glued us together that much more. He’s my best friend and somebody I talk to everyday. It was a pretty easy decision for me. I wanted him to be by my side on that day for sure.”
Tammy was a little surprised to hear about the unique choice of a “man of honor.”
“When Tyler was little, he thought his name was stupid because Lyndsey called him that so much,” Tammy said, laughing. “But as they both got older, their bond strengthened, and Lyndsey couldn’t imagine anyone else standing closest to her as she married Chase.”
With the taupe and blue formal wear in mind but no real wedding colors, Lyndsey wanted fall flowers that would add a pop of color. She and her mom headed to J L Designs in Monroe and shared their vision.
“I had a lot of pictures that I liked, and he really took all of them and created a
beautiful fall bouquet with sunflowers and other seasonal blooms and natural grasses,” said Lyndsey.
In the months leading up to the wedding, Lyndsey and Chase enjoyed the usual pre-wedding festivities.
Molly Young and Elizabeth Lally, Lyndsey’s best friends from high school, and their mothers hosted a bridal shower. Tammy’s lifelong best friend, Jill Bateman, honored the bride with a luncheon. Chase’s mother, along with friends Gina Carter and Terie Dukes, threw a couple’s shower.
And there were some unique gatherings a well. Chase’s mother and stepfather, Tonya and Keith Givens, planned a non-traditional rehearsal dinner. Fontara’s catered the Mexican Fiesta, called “Taco ‘Bout a Wedding,” which was held at the Wayfair Sunroom in Downtown Monroe.
That was just the beginning of a long weekend filled with fun, family and friends. On Friday, morning, Tammy
hosted a unique bridal luncheon at Board and Brush and the day ended with a backyard barbecue for family who couldn’t attend the wedding.
Finally, the big day arrived, and plans were executed under the watchful eye of wedding coordinator Marvelyn Smith, a retired family and consumer sciences teacher who taught Lyndsey, Chase and Tyler in high school.
Lyndsey and her girlfriends spent the morning relaxing at Smithonia, enjoying mimosas while photographer Nicole Flores captured the memories while managing to keep the groomsmen (Blake Smiley, Zac Brown, Saul Page, Jacob Olds, Clay McCullough and Clayton Mitchell) and Ringbearer (2-year-old Ezekiel) in line.
Tammy, who thought of everything, had box lunches delivered from Little City Diner in Winterville, and it was exactly the kind of easy morning Lyndsey had always imagined.
Before they knew it, the clock struck 5,
