In the 1820s, Salem Methodist Church was part of a thriving village, and now, it’s all that remains from the 19th century community.
In 1931, amateur historian Robert Ashford, whose family has its own heritage in Oconee County, wrote an account about Salem’s history for the Jan. 2 edition of The Oconee Enterprise.
