“This is what I want to do with my life,” Rozar said. “I want to spend my life at game day, whatever that looks like.”
Currently, OCHS has no formal sports broadcast classes, but schools throughout the state, including Morgan County High School, are launching them.
Kriebel hopes more students will follow Bright and Rozar’s path and build a program from the ground up.
“I hope that when my sister comes around in four or five years, there’s a whole team for this,” Rozar said. The OCHS football team’s playoff run opened Bright’s eyes to the possibility of high school sports broadcasting. One of the competing teams in the postseason brought a crew of students who produced
a live broadcast of the game.
“We played Westminster in the playoffs, and they
had an Emmy Award-winning broadcast,” Bright said. “Looking back at all the people who were involved and all the cool stuff they were able to do, I hope that Oconee’s able to replicate that in the future to promote our athletic programs.”
Spencer Bright moves around the court and bleachers to record the Oconee C ounty High School girls basketball team.
