S
aying that 2020 has been a difficult year would be
an understatement! But like everything diffi cult, it
came with valuable lessons. Man has unlearnt and
learnt lessons like never before. We have reinvented our
work cultures, rekindled family bonds, rediscovered
our havens at home and realigned our aspirations. As
we missed socializing, we also realized how much we
take for granted the things we deeply love.
Man’s association with sports dates back to the ancient
times, yet we were sadly kept away from the fi elds and
courts, there was neither the sweat from tackling or from
cheering. We saw major sports events like the Olympics
got cancelled. And our hopes soared when after the
lapse of a good few months we saw International Cricket and Football being played again. We
silently cheered as restrictions on stadiums relaxed and tickets to half capacities started to be sold.
We at the Mariner’s Cricket Club, are enthused and positive that we shall soon unleash our
competitive spirits in the fields. Our fast growing community of sports lovers in the heart of
Singapore believe that this year has been one of strengthening the mind and it shall soon translate
into exciting play on the fi eld.
The world has changed. It made our bonds to life even stronger. We have come to appreciate health
and fitness even more. The need for sports is most pronounced now. Nothing builds character
better than sports. While our little ones remain home bound, we promise them that we will make
up for the lost time by letting them dip into the happy ocean of sports and games.
We promise to keep the torch flaming bright. We promise that we are going to welcome a new
year where we shall extend our boundaries and be responsible sportsmen in and outside the fi eld.
