varnish finish and elegant, with a hull like a pointed saucer and
decks at each side that rolled down almost to the floor inside.
“Bamboozle” on the bank at the Witham Sailing Club,
Boston.
It all happened so fast it was only after the deal was done
that we realised major changes were needed at our new house
on the Woodside Estate to make space. “Bamboozle” was here
to stay and indeed is still with us after over 50 years.
We have had many years of sheer unparalled excitement
with this boat.
This memorable occasion I am going to try and recreate
was an outing to Chapel St Leonards with our neighbour Peter,
Ruth’s immediate boss at the local hospital orthopaedic
department and my partner in crime when it came to
collecting and restoring old cars.
A work acquaintance of mine through the garage trade was
the local Texaco representative who lived on the coast. He had
told me on one occasion that he had never had the chance to
sail on the sea.
