ABOUT THIS BOOK
Each chapter is a “stand alone” story.
We begin with calamity, our lives change for good and ever.
We move from a beautiful Georgian Country House to a small farm cottage.
I have no proper income and have to rely on Ruth to be our wage earner.
Help arrives from good neighbours from the past and then another change of direction for
a few years. A heart attack does not help things!
The chance to have old Ebony home again will change our lives in a way we could never
imagine.
There are good times and very bad times, then as the years go by even worse times.
Burglaries, a huge fire, and more!
We have to jump through huge “hoops” to even open our centre to the public.
Our original plan for a family enterprise, quickly becomes a sanctuary for animals with
problems.
Goliath comes to stay and opens another avenue of learning we never imagined.
Filming for the BBC and then later for a major motion picture is all part of the experience.
The National Lottery destroys our income virtually overnight.
National bank interest rates reach a never before high.
Ruth continues to be our wage earner as our big four legged family increases.
We are plagued by a ghost and asked to provide horse power for funerals.
A chance to write diary stories for my old employer's weekly newspaper, begins the
It's a Rum Life Book Series.
