chandler stable picking up a wind flaw that gave
her a nice bow wave to bring her up to the fleet.

Still a geat fleet but minus one.

While the starting fleet prepared for their all
clear start it wasn’t a complete fleet. A pre start
fleet check revealed one signed on starter wasn’t
on the line. Where’s Cyan was the call Then
came the message. Sorry chaps but no Cyan
                                                                                                 CYAN

A post race note from Martini’s skipper

Hi Peter, despite the light/no wind we really enjoyed being out
on the water. Thank you so much for your efforts.

It was along morning for Martini as I had to get to her at 0600
which gave me 3 hours to replace a broken alternator holding
bracket and then reinstall the alternator. Throttle linkages and
resultant adjustments as well as reinstall the starter motor
wiring. It’s amazing what one can do under pressure but all
done just prior to the start.

The things we do to race.

The positive is that I got to see an excellent sunrise. Ross Clark

                                                                                    Lovely shiny new metal
I had lights but they are never as good as sunlight. Try measuring
                                                                                    brackets holding Martini’s
0.5 mm with 12 volt lighting. It was so hard trying to fit it in the alternator and a great
dark. Not sure if using an angle grinder at 06:30 is kosher. I spoke sunrise to start the Race 3
very loudly when spanners slipped. day.

The alternator cast mounting broke about a year ago and so I designed a 3 steel bracket
arrangement to hold it but the design created some stress in one of the pieces of steel, one
fatigued and cracked. This version solves that but I had a
0.5mm discrepancy requiring some grinding. All good now. In
fact we tested the engine by towing Zephyr back to the Royals

        Post race social

Forget the abandoned race disappointment, it’s time for
another post race get together on the RMYS marina. A bonus Hugh Counsell
for this post race social was the meet up with John and Hugh
Counsell and their crew, Chris Till and his son Robbie from
        Merlin.
