The photo’s in this album are personal records of
Bert Ferris, the RMYS Historian Bert Ferris.
The principal subjects are Tumlarens and the RGYC Merlan
competing in the 1946 and 1947 Sydney to hobart yacht
race.
In the 1947 race, Merlan overshot the turn into Storm Bay
and lost the first on handicap chance
Bert Ferris crewed on Merlan for the 1946 Sydney delivery
voyage and the 1946 Sydney to Hobart Yacht race.
Many of these photo’s have never been published.
Several RGYC A1 class yachts are included in this album
