After reading the 5:00am BoM Port Phillip 6 June 2022
conditions forecast and then seeing the

Sad to relate, while this thinking was great it
wasn’t to be for the fleet. The BoM was right again.
Take a look at the St. Kilda Harbour wind graph for Sunday. Pre race we had workable wind
strength. Check out the 16 second video of Acrospire III going through her 10:00am
workout in this wind. Another great sight of classic yacht sailing is the word here.

The rot sets in
But it was all down hill from there. Although Race 3 was started on schedule at 10:300 with
enough wind strength to get the fleet over the line and up the track somewhat the wind
strength dropped out to zero.
But not for all.
From the race tower on e remarkable scene was the
sight of Merlin, the UK cutter from 1934 designed
by Mr. Letcher from the Captain O. M. Watts ship
chandler stable picking up a wind flaw that gave her a nice bow wave to bring her up to the
fleet.
