MESSAGE LEGACY
202 1
The 1984 Olympics remains fresh in our memory, thanks to the unforgettable sporting moments and the INVITAT ONAL
legacy left behind for others to follow. For 36 years the LA84 Foundation has been helping youth become PRES EN TED B Y
“Life Ready Through Sports” with our investments in youth sports programs, coaching education and
building fields of play.
The gap between those who have access and those who do not is a crisis hiding in plain sight. As we look
to our own legacy, we understand that LA84 must lead and we must all do more. Leveling the playing field
must include all of us joining into the fabric of this beautiful city -- however challenged, awed, knocked
down, and even struggling sometimes – but ultimately rising to realize a great future as we join together to
support our young leaders of tomorrow.
We believe that the power of sport is lost if it is only available to the few. That is why we established the
Play Equity Fund, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, to raise awareness and more resources to ensure all
youth have access and opportunity to sport and play as a pathway to lifelong well-being.
Our inaugural golf tournament will benefit our work at the Play Equity Fund. Your contributions will allow us
to support the young lives that sit on the sidelines because they don’t have anywhere to play the sports
they have only seen on TV. Your support will help those that are shut out of programs that require
well-trained coaches, transportation and their parents to pay for equipment. Your support will help to build
strong minds and bodies. Through access and equity, these programs build a pathway for so many to
success and accomplishment.
As we tee up for change, we ask that you join with us, knowing that together we can do much, much more
than we can alone.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Renata Simril
