P. 6
The prophetic time clock began in
445 B.C. when King Artaxerxes of
Persia iued the decr
to
rebuild Jerusalem (Nehemiah 2:1-8).
“Know and understand this: From the
time the word goes out to restore
and rebuild Jerusalem until the
Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there
will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two
‘sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets
and a trench, but in times of trouble”
(Daniel 9:25).
The seven ‘sevens’ were 49 years and
the sixty-two sevens were an
aitional 483 years until the coming
of the Anointed One (the Meiah).
“After the sixty-two
‘sevens,’ the Anointed
One will be put to death
and will have nothing”
(Daniel 9:26).
Using the Jewish custom of a 360-day
year, 483 years after 445 B.C. takes the
period to A.D. 30 and the triumphal entry
of Jesus into Jerusalem (Ma. 21:1-9). The
“Anointed One wi be cut o” refers to
Jesus’ crucifixion, and at that point the
prophetic time clock paused, so to speak.
Of the 70 “sevens,” 69
have already b
n
fulfied in history, which
leaves one more “seven”
yet to be fulfied.
Most Bible scholars believe that
we are now living in the church
age, the long gap betw
n the
69th w
k and the 70th w
k.
The final “seven” of Daniel
is what we usuay ca the
4 4 tribulation period.
