Pro bono publico: professional work undertaken voluntarily and without payment or at a reduced fee as a public service
Because of all the work projects that take place at Red
Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, the hand
tools take a beating and require periodic maintenance.
On the afternoon of June 5, a group of 16 attendees at
an American Bar Association (ABA) sponsored Water
Law Conference agreed to take on the job. The group
was made up of attorneys and ABA staff. They met at
Red Springs and received a brief training session by
Robert Valenzuela, BLM Red Rock Recreation Tech-
nician. Then they broke into four groups and proceed-
ed to work on shovels, McLeods, axes, Pulaskis and
wheelbarrows.
