Work that creates a tingling sensation. Work that makes others stop and ask why they didn’t think of the idea previously. Work that echoes victory.
The Courage to Leap Towards Victory
Now that we have charted our purpose, as well
as the right group of fellow travellers, we need
the tenacity to “shhh” the naysayers. Gestation of winningideascomeswithconfrontingbarriers-i.e being told that there isn’t sufficient budget for such an idea. But the greatest ideas comes with the greatest risk.
In such situations, we need courage. Courage comes in many forms, from challenging the brief, creating a bigger purpose, to the courage needed to create new technology and challenge societal norms and conventions. Most of all, courage is not giving up after initial failure. It is the differentiator between
a good idea and a great idea. This courage does not come from a lone individual, but rather from a collective group. Courage is not just about standing
out and being different, but also about being firmly vested in a purpose.
Creating great work is like preparing a complex gourmet dish; there are a few key ingredients that, combined with the rest of the dish, make it stellar:
1. Being open to innovation, new ideas and ways of working
2. Collaboratingwithexpertsfromdifferentfields 3. Ignitingcuriosityandencouragingcourage
4. Solvingahumanneed
All in all, we must take the leap of courage
when giving life to a new idea. Once the above foundations are correct and in place, the winning idea will naturally surface. Winning is not a destination, but rather a journey that we should be striving to constantly remain on, bettering ourselves and humankind along the way.
