P. 26
Conclusion
1) Due to the customary practice and compliance with regulatory requirements, pile load tests are almost
always required. The provision of pile load tests allows the engineer:
a) to verify design parameters,
b) to design more economical piles,
c) to check the quality of materials and workmanships, and
d) to ultimately show the performance meets load-settlement requirements.
2) It is important to understand the difference in development rate for shaft friction and end-bearing. The
load-settlement curve is an important plot to assist engineer in understanding the pile behaviour.
