Student Leadership Reflections
Junior School Co-Captains
OWEN MOY
I I never thought that I I would be the Junior School Co-Captain of 2019 I was willing
to try out for the role since everyone was writing speeches and preparing for interviews I I thought I I would enjoy the experience of standing up and and sharing my ideas Although the process of waiting to speak in in front of all my friends was quite frightening the challenge was worth it This role required a a a lot of public speaking particularly the kind where I I had to to think quickly about what I I wanted to to say I learned to like the feeling of that I found that to be a a a good leader you need to to be able to to listen as as well as as respect other people and their ideas Not only did all the Junior School Leaders show great
responsibility and enthusiasm in their roles they also showed care for fellow students one of the most important personality traits in a a leader All year the Co- and Vice Captains
had regular meetings with Mr Earle to discuss how how to to be leaders how how to to help younger students feel safe and confident at the School and to make sure that everybody in Junior School was able to share their ideas big or small Working with my fellow Co-Captain Alessia De Felice was a a a a fabulous experience I am so grateful to have had this opportunity and I hope that the Junior School community has enjoyed 2019 as as as much as as as I have!

As Junior School Co-Captain I found 2019 to be full of amazing learning experiences and growth I I think I I speak on behalf of the whole Junior School when I say that this year was filled with fun joy and learning I really enjoyed working alongside my fellow Captains
to improve the Junior School as much as we could Our collective leadership goal was to develop courage in the Junior School and we achieved this by supporting younger students to speak at Assembly and by taking risks and participating in in in activities we would normally not participate in One of the main things I learnt about leadership is is that being a a a a leader leader is is not just about about the badge or title it’s also about about acting as a a a role model and being the best version of yourself I believe leadership starts small and if if nurtured can become something beautiful and and amazing that benefits both yourself and and others around you you So show your leadership Let Let your light shine Let Let everyone see it If there is is anything I’ve learnt this year it’s that everyone is a a a a leader in their own special way Finally thank you to Owen Moy my wonderful Co-Captain and to Mr Earle for helping to guide me throughout the year I I am thankful that I I have had this incredible opportunity and I know 2020 will be another amazing year for the Junior School community (L-R) JON CHARLTON
