Computer Science

Summary of Programme
for Year 9:
Through Year 9, the course
aims to give students the ability
to understand and apply the
fundamental principles and
concepts of Computer Science.
These include;
• Analysing problems in
computational terms through
practical experience of solving
such problems, including
designing, writing and debugging
programs; thinking creatively,
innovatively, analytically, logically
and critically.
• Understanding the components
that make up digital systems,
and how they communicate
with one another and with other
systems; and understand the
impacts of digital technology to
the individual and to wider society.
Topics covered include Game
Development in Unity, JavaScript
and Python programming,
Networks, Cybersecurity and the
‘Internet of Things’.
Does the Year 9 course include
any elements of the GCSE?
We will touch on some of the
aspects of the GCSE but will
mainly be focusing on different
topics and skills throughout
the year.
Dance
Head of Department:
Miss M Robinson
Summary of Programme
for Year 9:
Students will explore a variety of
dance styles and develop their
creativity through a wide range
of choreographic tasks. Students
will develop and improve their
performance skills whilst working
towards performance pieces for
the annual dance showcase.
Students will acquire all the
necessary skills to continue on to
GCSE Dance.
Does the Year 9 course include
