Art and Design

Summary of Programme
for Year 9:
During the year, students get
the opportunity to experience
six mini projects that are linked
to the subject areas available
at GCSE level. Each of these
GCSE endorsement ‘tasters’ are
delivered by the subject specialists
and groups rotate through each
of the different areas on a half-
termly basis. This experience not
only provides a diverse and rich
teaching experience but also
helps students make an informed
choice for GCSE level. Art-based
subject areas on offer at GCSE are
‘Fine Art’, ‘Textile Design’, ‘Graphical
Communication’ and ‘Art, Craft
and Design’.
Does the Year 9 course include
any elements of the GCSE?
We will touch on some aspects of
the GCSE but will mainly focusing
on different topics and skills
throughout Year 9.
Business

Summary of Programme
for Year 9:
Year 9 Business will introduce
students to a range of business
topics and skills to give students
a flavour of how businesses and
workplaces operate. The aim is
to get students to ‘think like a
business person’ and develop
understanding of transferable
work skills. We will look at how
businesses are organised and
operate, the ways they are affected
by what is going on in the world,
and key business skills such as
money management, business
technology and decision-making.
Students will complete small
projects individually and in small
groups.
Does the Year 9 course include
any elements of the GCSE?
We will touch on some topic areas
from the BTEC L2 Business course
will mainly be focusing on other
business topics and skills mainly
