School Production:
The Addams Family Musical
The Performing Arts Department’s production of The Addams Family musical was nothing short
of outstanding, delivering a truly memorable experience that showcased the immense talent and
dedication of our fabulously talented students and staff. From the very first note to the final curtain,
the performance was an exquisite display of creativity, skill, and passion in all areas of singing,
dancing and acting.
The students truly shone in their roles, whether
a principal or chorus member, and effortlessly
embodied the iconic characters with remarkable
insight, depth and energy. The ‘double casting’ gave
so many students the opportunity to hone their
skills in ensemble performances or as soloists and
definitely gave every night a truly personal flavour
for the audience, many of whom came for more
than one show.
We witnessed heartfelt performances, endearing
quirkiness and demonstrated a level of
professionalism rarely seen in a school production.
The production was not only an acting triumph
but also a visual and musical masterpiece. The
moving set design was intricate and creative,
perfectly capturing the gothic atmosphere of the
Addams Family home alongside the garden and
park scenes. The beautiful lighting and stunning
costumes enhanced the eerie yet whimsical tone of
the show, with every detail thoughtfully considered.
The choreography was tight and well executed,
highlighting the students’ dedication to the craft,
even for those for whom dancing is a relatively new
discipline.
Offstage, the commitment shown by the staff
and crew was equally remarkable. The direction
was sharp and insightful, ensuring each moment
had the right balance of humour and heart. We
witnessed finesse, outstanding performances and
mature comedy throughout the show, while the
backstage crew worked tirelessly to ensure smooth
transitions and technical precision.
This production was a testament to the hard work,
passion and talent of everyone involved. It not only
entertained but left the audience in awe of what
high standards can be achieved when students and
staff come together to create another incredible
Performing Arts production.
