Key departments to note from many that took
part this year and increasing the curriculum areas
that are all now focusing and using green and
sustainability in their curriculum subjects. MFL
examined environmental problems and solutions
in their Spanish and French classes, which was an
integral part of their curriculum.
The students in the Art Dept developed a creative
mood board – a large visual display reminding
students to reuse materials and demonstrate how
to reduce wastage within the different depts. Year
10 students in Adam Stark’s REP delved into climate
breakdown and extinction discussing the question
of whether abuse of the environment was inevitable!
The English Department linked up with our
partner school in Rwanda (Regina Pacis) and
Father Jean, and a new school in Namibia (Blue
School), extending our international work in global
citizenship. Our Green Friday – a non-uniform day
for charity – supported two environmental charities,
Water Aid and Sussex Wildlife Trust in Henfield, as
our beneficiaries with over £800 donated.
The Catering and Operation Teams continue
to closely monitor waste, while the successful
Recycling School Uniform and Equipment initiative
has been greatly supported by our parents both in
terms of recycling and also buying to reuse. This has
been our ongoing green and sustainable challenge
to reduce our carbon footprint to net zero.
Over the holidays, remember to enjoy your local
habitats and gardens with all the signs and smells
of spring now in the air. We return next term to
celebrate Earth Day on the first day back!
